Open government

Democracy is a daily process that’s built on partnership, integrity and trust.

It’s about working with people to set common goals, not dividing to conquer. It means dealing honestly and openly. And it means mutual respect that’s earned over time.

The Yukon NDP caucus believes our elected representatives should listen to Yukoners and work responsibly with the public service, public advisory boards and all levels of government for everyone’s good.

Government should:

  • work to improve strained relations with all First Nation governments
  • be respectful and accountable to the public
  • build trust by governing with respect and integrity
  • operate in an open and transparent manner
  • be fiscally responsible and manage public money within the requirements of the Taxpayer Protection Act
